Valdieu Fine Arts : an expert in Geneva

Always passionate about gems and jewellery, it is certainly no coincidence that since 2010 Eric Valdieu has been at the helm of Valdieu Fine Arts. With a grandfather as jeweller and a taste for the design, beauty and values that gemstones can convey, in 1980 it was quite natural for Eric Valdieu to begin his studies at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Los Angeles.

A year later, he graduated (diamonds, coloured stones and drawings) from that world-famous school and began his professional career at Christie's in Geneva before joining Bulgari for 2 years. In 1987, he went back to Christie's Geneva where he took the position of director of the jewellery department, which allowed him to gain valuable insights and experience in jewellery valuation, whether for sale or any other type of transaction such as insurance, inheritance, private sales, etc ...

In 2003, as well as his role in the jewellery department, he became Vice-President of Christie's Switzerland and managed, as auctioneer, the auctions at Christie's and also a number of charitable works in Switzerland, France and Monaco.

It was in 2010, with 35 years' international experience in the field of gemstones and jewellery, that Eric Valdieu set up his business, Valdieu Fine Arts SA, in Geneva. Specialising in diamond and gemstone dealing, Eric Valdieu also transforms them in collaboration with a reputable workshop that has worked for more than 20 years with the major jewellers in the area.

His expertise, his international contacts and his experience enable Eric Valdieu to give you the best advice for buying and selling and also in the valuation of gemstones and jewellery. Because he travels frequently, he knows where to find the most beautiful gems and the best dealers. So, he will often be found in Hong Kong, London or New York analysing changes in the market and unearthing pieces of high-end jewellery for his customers and on his own behalf. Having run courses at the University of Geneva for several years for the MA in Luxury Marketing, he has written monthly articles for the Tribune des Arts since January 2015. Eric Valdieu has also been, since 2012, the manager of an investment fund based in Luxembourg that specialises in gemstones and jewellery.

Thanks to his 35 years' relevant experience, Eric Valdieu is the perfect guide to all questions in relation to the buying and selling of diamonds and gemstones and jewellery design.
